Understanding your colours is often regarded as one of the best ways to improve your personal style, but it doesn’t have to be overly complicated. Here are our 3 easy steps to increasing your confidence with colour…

Step 1 - Cool vs Warm Complexion

If you are unsure of your skin complexion, the first step is to determine whether you have a cool or a warm undertone to your skin.  People with a cooler complexion tend to have a more blue undertone to their skin, darker freckles and look better with silver jewellery, whereas people with a warmer complexion have more of a yellow undertone, lighter freckles and look better with gold jewellery.

Step 2 - Lighter vs Darker Features

The next thing to work out if you have a lighter or darker features.  This is usually determined by your hair and eye colour.

If you have a Cool undertone and darker features such as Black, Dark Brown or Salt & Pepper Grey Hair along with Dark Brown, Dark Blue or Dark Green eyes then you are likely to be a Winter.

If you have a Warm undertone and darker features such as Chestnut Brown, Light Brown, Dark Blond, or Salt & Pepper Grey Hair along with Hazel, Dark Brown, Dark Blue or Dark Green eyes then you are likely to be an Autumn.

If you have a Warm undertone and lighter features such as Blonde, Strawberry Blonde, Light Brown, Auburn or Sandy Grey Hair along with Light Blue, Light Brown or Light Green eyes then  then you are likely to be a Spring.

If you have a Cool undertone and lighter features such as Blonde, Strawberry Blonde, Light Brown, Auburn or Sandy Grey Hair along with Light Blue, Light Brown or Light Green eyes then you are likely to be a Summer.

Step 3 - Find your style match

Now that you have a better understanding of which colouring you are, it’s time to find your style match.  Someone who has the same colouring as you and whose style you admire and appreciate.  We’ve created this chart to give you a good starting point but feel free to find another style icon that matches your colouring.
